1500 roster... Sethayla or not?

Postby unicorn » July 20th, 2010, 22:0

I am going to play 1500 game tomorrow. Actually, I never have any "beloved" 1500 roster besides Sethayla, so I was clueless what to field. Now, I have 2 variants. Any suggestions which to use and/or what to improve?

MAGIC ROSTER
classic variant of "get the transformation of with IF for sure." The rest of the roster is pretty "standard" I will say
Weaver, l4, beast magic, general - 320 pts
* IS scroll, 4+ ward save
BSB, La - 132 pts
* Stone of rebirth
2x10 GG - 2x120 pts
5 Scouts - 85 pts
2x8 Dryads - 2x96 pts
2x7 WDs, muso, champ - 2x147 pts
5 WRS, muso - 130 pts
2x GE - 2x50 pts

SETHAYLA ROSTER
classic Sethayla trying to use 8th ed rules to the max. God knows how will this work, because I do not ;)
Noble, LA, Sh, Sp, GE, general - 181 pts
* HoDA, HotH
1x14 GGs, muso, standard - 196 pts
* fire attacks
2x10 GGs - 2x120 pts
3x5 Scouts - 3x85 pts
2x3 WhRs - 2x120 pts
2x7 WWs - 2x 168 pts
GE - 50 pts

Isn't Blades of Leoc Wardancer only? I may be wrong on this.

I'm torn between the two lists. I would like a hybrid most, but I'm leaning towards the first list just because you will be a cool dragon...

It is, but my BSB was (is not anymore) using Wildfire blades. +1A and fire attacks. Love this weapon as it goes nicely with the WD theme of the unit/army.

Voted Sethayla cause I love it and I still think it will work.

I feel the same way as Allendor, do test Sethayla 8th ed, it'd be very interesting. ;)

If I had to pick one for effectiveness, I would probably pick the first list.

If just testing, try both?

Just to clear something up, what exactly constitutes a Sethayla list? No forest spirits or almost every unit has the ability to shoot?

Sethayla looks more fun.

Why is everything I did in 7th Edition suddenly so popular in 8th edition...?

Speed (not that much in 8th, I am afraid), shooting, avoiding

There is an article in the Leaf tactics you can look at if you want to know more about it.

Speed (not that much in 8th, I am afraid), shooting, avoiding

I am not quite sure what you mean. Where have we lost speed?
Our Glade riders still move march and shoot.
Now our Waywatchers can do the same but they could not march and shoot in the 7th.
Warhawks still can move 20" and shoot plus hit and run and stomp.
We can still have the Dragon Highborn at about 2300+ points and he isn't any slower if built for combat.

We do have to be more carefull around forests but so we lead the enemy into them and let them test it out.
March blocking might be a bit less but I never liked using it much I would rather turn the enemy around a few times by getting behind them.

I kinda look at the 8th as the troop build up edition.
Now the enemy will spend more points building large blocks of troops that are even more unmanouverable. We will just avoid them taking the shots we can.
No amount of planning can ever replace dumb luck.

We do not lost it. It is our opponents who get it ;)

What about putting the Beast Weaver in the Sethya list? I know it would take some re working but a dragon would certainly help with the hitting power of that style of army.
