Skogsalver - A PLOG from Sweden

Postby lasergreger » Tue Aug 07, 2012 5:09 pm

Hello there folks!

I'm new here on these excellent forums (though I have lurked a bit). Autumn is upon us, and I for one need a new project to help me get back into 8th edition, I haven't played since middle of 7th. Having spent weeks reading about armies in 8th and looking at mini's I have (hopefully!) settled on Wood Elves. I love the fact that they don't use massive horde units (or atleast, that's not the aboslute norm) and the models have always been smacking. So I dug up my Battalion I bought a loooong time ago and started on a Glade Guard and a Dryad. I thought I'd post some progress here, since that really spurred me on with my Grey Knights-army. So please feel free to drop any C&C on how I can improve and add to what I hope to be my next love in Fantasy!

And here are those two aformentioned models:

Here is my prototype Glade Guard.

And here is the Dryad.

Those are wonderful minis :) I love the nice clean and sharp highlights on the Glade Guard.

Great colour scheme, I especially like the contrasts between the bright red and the rest of the models. And very well-painted. :)

Hi there Greger! :)

Your stuff looks really nice and crisp, I like it! the only thing I think I can add is a small thing. If you cut off a sewing needle in the right length and add a strong thread to the bow you can make it look like the Glade Guard are shooting. I would recommend using something called "Björntråd" and you should be able to get it at any pins and buttons store in your local town, btw where in Sweden do you live?

I live in Umeå. I have seen alot of people adding both string and arrows to their bows but I have to say I have never liked it. Thanks for your tip, it's much appretiated, but I will stick to my invisible stuff :)

Painting is having to take a back seat to other nonsense such as work, my Pathfinder campaign and you know, the fiencé... :ninja: But I hope to be able to slap some paint on more figs soon. I think I will complete my first 8 x Dryads next, those buggers were a fast job!
