P&M Writers needed for The LEAF

Postby Naggie » Thu Aug 23, 2007 10:38 pm

The LEAF writers are spitting out tactical articles at an incredible speed, and yet I have not heard any interest from the painters or modellers. Do we not have someone who could put their work into words and help the rest of us to improve our painting or modelling skills? Articles does not need to be long, but images needs to be supplied by the writer.

Articles I'd like to see:
- Guide to Non-Metallic Metal
- Detail Work (eyes, tattoos, freehand)
- Making Sitting Warhawk Riders
- Season Paint Scheme Examples
- Any cool conversion you've done that can inspire the rest of us...

Stuff like that. I've seen much of what you guys can do. Can you write it into article form and get etched onto the site forever? Let me know what you'd like to write about, either by posting here or sending me a PM.

Oh, BTW. The LEAF site has gotten a brand new skin to fit the general board style now. I hope you like it.

I could volunteer my services (although I know for a fact there are far better painters and modellers out there) for the P&M articles if needed. If you need any extra help with the tactics articles as well, just let me know (I was away when the LEAF was introduced else I would have offered my services earlier)

PM me if needed.

From the comments and questions I received from my 'Colourblind' topic, an article on basic painting for Asrai core units to achieve good tabletop standard using inking and/or drybrushing.

OK AMA that should be relatively quick and simple to knock together so I'll try my hand at it and try and get at least one article put together before I return to Uni (which gives me about two weeks)

I did a Treeman conversion using a Treebeard Model (the the Treebeardman...Thing topic). I guess I could write an article for that if you wanted me to. Warning however, it's not a very complicated conversion. Mainly it was parts swap and putting Warhammer pieces on a LOTR model. It is a good conversion for the modelingly challenged (like me!).

Once I get around to making my wardancer hero (still 12 dryads, 4 GR and 12GG to go before hand) I'll document the conversion steps and maybe, just maybe the painting as well (i'm not an 'Eavy Metal painter but it's not horrible either, I'd say maybe above average table-top standard)

Just a note, this would be my first conversion so I have no clue how it'll end up or how long it'll take me to get the conversion to a standard I see fit (or how many times I might start over)

I guess I haven't mentioned yet that the conversion will be a wardancer made into a backflip pose...I might add a severed beastman head to it too.

If you have Dryads to paint, please participate in our Dryad Exhibition article. Just two paragraphs and a few pictures needed.
I will be eagerly awaiting your Wardancer conversion.

I'll try to put some detailed write ups for the conversions and paint jobs i'll be doing. Including inspiration and thoughts behind them.

This is probably way to late to say.... but i would be willing to help on a few things. Notably seasonal color schemes, sitting warhawk riders, and my own beginners guide to painting horses ( :) just cause i have my cool technique for horse painting) But I'm not so sure about the warhawk riders because i still need to buy some :P But again its probably too late for me to ask...and I would need a camera.

The LEAF is a long-term project, so its not too late.

The horse painting article sounds promising...
i've just finished a seated warhawk article, but it would be great to see another way of doing it!

strangely enough, i've volunteered for seasonal paint schemes also. Again, it'd be great to see another point of view...

If you have an article done, just PM it to Nag...

get a hold of a camera!

I believe i could do a "cool conversion" article. When my order arrives I'll be converting winter themed wild riders on sabretusks. I'd be happy to do an article for The LEAF, and I've had some experience in such matters - I'm a member of TMLAS over at druchii.net and wrote an article for an independent webmag on how to paint warhounds a little while ago. Cheers, Lord Khaladin

Hi !

It's been a while for me, too ... ;)

I'd be willing to put my Treeman-Article in a new form and upload the pitures to asrai.org for a LEAF-article, if it helps ... :)

Apart from that I have problems getting the time together to paint a Blood Bowl team ... :p

Cheers !

Email is the easiest way if you have lots of pictures. Just be sure to write where you want each pic in the article.

Yeah, my Asrai mail is only 10MB as of yet. Will be looking into upgrading it to 25. Still got just shy of 6.5 GB free space on Gmail though (bigger than this server...)

I'm in the process of writing a 'How to Convert Treekin' article now, so if you would like to send me pictures and a step-by-step guide to how you made yours we can give two alternative methods, which is always good.

Really? I have no idea why...perhaps it doesn't like pics (I've tried sending pics and it didn't work so that might be the same problem you're having). PM your text when you're done (no rush )

@Beithir: As soon as I finish my six waywatchers, I'm gonna scratchbuild a unit of treekin. They should fit nicely into your article, I think, so the question is when do you expect to have it ready?
