[LEAF] Asrai and Buildings

Postby Naggie » Sun Dec 16, 2007 8:15 pm

It's weekend again, and another article has been uploaded onto the LEAF pages. This time, it is a very intresting and rejuvenating piece by ArchMagosAlchemys and his thoughts and ideas regarding the fairly new phenomenon of buildings and their relation to Wood Elves. Wood Elves benefit a lot from using buildings, and we are probably one of the best equipped armies to take care of enemies inside buildings. If you didn't play with lots of buildings before, this article will surly make you want to start!

Check out the new article "Asrai & Buildings" over at the leaf !

Maybe a stupid question, but I don't see the link to the LEAF on this new skin.

very nice article AMA,

Buildings can be good shooting platforms. You can shoot 5 models from each level and the model’s line of sight is drawn from that level. This means that 10 models in a five-level tower can see over most things. Models in buildings can also see 360 degrees, and range is measured from the edge of the building. Buildings offer no protection form magic missiles or magical attacks

Yes, I noticed that, but do not have edit privileges.

I read this article carefully, and it provides some great info! Thanx for that, man! /bow/

I recognize one thing what I think is typo:
Only infantry of unit strength 10 or more get to fight on each side if you decide to hold your ground
* shund not this be "of unit strength of 10 or LESS"?

And I have question about this part of article; maybe our community is using Dawi rules in the wrong way?
the Dwarfs advance 5.5" and get into the building. The next turn, they are placed at the far end of a 12" building, and can then move another 6", since they can always march
* Maybe you use the rules different way to us, but from what I know, rules say that you cannot enter the building in the turn you march; and that after leaving building (or enter battlefield) you cannot march too. And the dawi rule is only about marching while close enough to be marchblocked by enemy unit..?

Our local Dwarfs and others interpret Relentless to allow them to march in all circumstances, of which enemy too close is but one. There is supposed to be a FAQ somewhere.

The other issue is definitely a typo and Nagathi the Magnificent will doubtless make the correction.

Remind me again during the weekend. I'll fix the typo and the possible rules misunderstanding (I too think that they are allowed to march if enemies are closer than 8 inches, but are still affected by all other march-prohibitions).

Yes. I've looked through the Dawi book and BRB and it seems that the local Stunties have pushed beyond the envelope. Feel free to revise the mathematics.
