Fyrhaine was pleased with the outcome of the duel... she could still feel the delicate pain of the Khornate One's axe slashes on her skin. Yet the nature of the wounds somewhat lacked the prowess of a true pleasureseeker... she sighed. One could just not compare the followers of Khorne, those screaming and frothing lunatics with the sophisticated worshippers of the Dark Prince.

The slightest hint of a smile escaped Fyrhaine's lips as she pondered about the different nature of the two forces of the Aethyr. It would take some time until her next duel was scheduled. Until then she would have to watch over Daemia, her appointed pupil. She only had made the first hesitant steps on the path to the exaltation of Slaanesh. Leading her on the way would need all of Fyrhaine's concentration.

The sorceress licked her blood from her fingers which had been caressing the wounds on her skin and then started to invoke a translocation spell to pay her student a visit.

She had fought well enough today and now would seek some other kind of diversion - after all she had earned some kind of loan for her victory...

OOC: Whoa, I'm surprised she made it. ;) Usually my AoD characters are doomed to fail so the success is all the merrier. :D

Asorial had watched the battle from the outskirts of the arena. He stood, breathing heavily, watching as the Champion of Slaanesh carved her arcane symbols into the daemonic flesh of the follower of Khorne. His feelings were a mix of rage and satisfaction. He thought to himself that as long as the followers of Chaos have such strong rivalries amongst eachother, there is still hope for the Elthin Alwar. At the same time he could barely restrain himself from charging into the arena to attack the two daemons. He could hear the whispers in his head clearly now, and he could only hope they came from the sword..

"you must, you know you must.. now is the time to strike, the souls of the abominations must come unto me. Strike now and I shall guide your hand to victory, blood will flow and your curse will be undone.."

Yet somehow he managed to hold his ground. The wrath of the tournament master did not even cross his mind though, what bothered him was the gut-feeling he had. That his curse had only just begun..

With a deep sigh he turned his back on the atrocities being commited on the arena floor, and strode back towards the catacomb-entrance. He looked down to his right, smiling at the lithe form of Bhelliom. But again she was not there. In truth she hadnt been since the last battle. It was not like her, and he truly missed her company. Dragging his legs behind him he started walking again. Only one thing worried him more than the lack of appearance from his beloved Spite. The fact that the only thing able to lift his spirits seemed to be the thought of the next battle...

Also it was the small matter of that buboe he had gotten on his ankle. It was probably nothing, but now was certainly not the time to become sick. He brushed the thought aside and kept walking...

Round 1 - Turn 5: Asorial Dragonheart VS Kai-Huan

The Saurus wondered where he was. He had made his way to the arena doors to fight his next battle. But as soon as he left his rooms, he had noticed that some of the corridors had disappeared and new ones had appeared where there was solid wall the last time he passed them. The Saurus had been forced to search for another route to the arena. And now he was lost.

While he was in deep thought about how he would get out of here, he suddenly felt a sting. Great was his surprise when he looked down. A large snake has bitten his ankle and was now hanging in the air, as the Saurus raised his foot. Forcing the snake's jaws open, he pulled it from his ankle and cleaved it in two with his sword.

As he threw the remains of the snake behind him, he suddenly heard noises. Turning round, he saw several other snakes fight for the food that he had thrown them. "Sssnakesss? What are they doing here?", he thought. When the first one turned and slithered towards the Saurus, he knew he had to be cautious. The Oldblood had spent the biggest part of his life in Lustria and knew all to well how dangerous these creaures could be. Realising that he had to kill them, or be killed, he charged into the slithering mass of snakes.

---------------------------------------

Asorial had been waiting for half an hour now, but the Saurus still hadn't shown up. Although he wanted the thrill of battle, somewhere in his tortured mind, he was glad that Kai-Huan hadn't shown up yet. He worried about his own safety because Bhelliom, who was supposed to protect him, still hadn't returned.

Then, finally the doors at the opposite side of the arena opened. But the Saurus that walked out of it, was covered in blood. Although most of it was of the snakes, some of his own was also amongst it and he seemed to have trouble standing on his right leg. "Nice", thought Asorial, "I don't know who did that to him, but he sure is making my job a lot easier." Without further thinking, he charged the Saurus.

But the Saurus had a trick up his sleave. He waited untill the last moment, just before Asorial was going to hit him, to draw his sword. The magic powers of the blade, filled him with a burning rage and unimaginable speed. Stepping aside to dodge the blade of the Wood Elf, he rammed his barbed wickedly barbed shield into the Wood Elf's chest.

But his victory was not to be, as Bhelliom, Asorial's Spite, appeared just in front of the Alter Highborn, managing to protect him from being cut open by the Saurus's shield. Looking down upon his Spite, he could see that her skin, which used to be a vibrant orange, had turned into a sickly green colour and she was covered in blisters all over her body. A vile ichor ran from one of the blisters on her skin that had been cut open by the Saurus. As he looked at Bhelliom, Asorial could only guess what had happened to her. However, his coriosity and concern would have to wait untill after the battle.

He saw that the Saurus had trouble staying up. The poison was draining his strength and it would only be a matter of time before it got the best of him. But Asorial wanted to kill him before that happened. Kai-Huan had hurt his loyal friend, the only one he had left and would pay for that.

Aiming his sword towards his foe's chest, he gathered all the strength he had. Kai-Huan, who saw the blow comming tried to jump away. However, as he put his weight on his right leg, he sank through his knees. The next thing that happened was Asorial's blade severing the Saurus's head.

Asorial wins

Believe me, Khai'Zan would have been dead if it was he who fought these swarms. Most autowounds they made have only just been saved. 4 of them were under 4 when he saved them, so they would have avoided your ward save with ease. :) Kai-Huan was lucky he had a 2+ save.

It feels a bit wierd to win a battle by means of an event, but im still happy :)

However maybe you should balance it out by adding an event to both players? As in this case, maybe Bhelliom shouldnt have returned instantly, but maybe after the first round of Saurus attacks.

But since I dont have any real save apart from that, I guess it would have been unbalanced anyway :P

ps. I love the idea of events, dont get me wrong :)

Events work like this:

Each player rolls a D6 before the fight.
If a 1, they are subject to an event.
Roll on the event chart:
1= They are lost and they miss the battle.
2= They have to fight a Chaos Spawn
3= They have to fight a Minotaur
4= They have to fight 2 Nurgling Swarms (I've changed it, as it now is more in character with the fluff about the arena.)
5= They have to fight a chosen Khorne Warrior
6= They enter the arena through a hidden path. They get the charge (even over opponents with "Strike First"), and get +1 strength and +1 attack in the first round of combat.

Anyone think that this should not be there, or do you guys think it is a good idea?

Round 1 - Turn 5: Dihiran VS Halrich Von Carstein

"I have to do something about my losses.", Dihiran thought. She was walking to the entrance of the arena for her next fight. She hoped that this battle would not end the same way as the previous ones. It was her only chance to stay in the tournament, if she lost now, she could kiss the second round goodbey.

Suddenly she stepped into a ray of light. Looking up, the Alter Highborn saw an opening in the ceiling, leading to the arena. In a sudden moment, she realised that this might present the oppurtunity to surprise her opponent.

When the Wood Elf crawled out of the hole, she could see the Vampire standing a few meters away, preparing himself for combat. Now that she had a look at the hole, she saw that it was one of the ventilation shafts for the corridors beneath the surface. She would have to remember this, it might be usefull. But now, she had other things on her mind. Unsheathing her sword, she crept closer to her opponent. When she was just a few, she attacked the vampire. Realising that this surprise attack was her only hope, she put everything she had in that first flurry of blows.

But it was to no avail. Although she had seriously wounded the count, he was still alive (?). "Stupid Elf, did you really think you could defeat me that easily." Enraged by the manoever of the Elf, he attacked her. She would pay for her cowardly moves.

But Dihiran was to fast. She dodged all but one blow, and managed to avoid being hit in the chest by Halrich. Instead, the blow hit her leg and partially immobilised her. Although she tried once more to kill her foe, her blows didn't have the strength needed to wound the vampire.

This time, she would not be able to avoid being hit by the vampire's hit, so she raised her shield for protection. But Halrich's strength was to much for the Elf and he cleaved her in two woth the first blow. She didn't stand up again.

Round 1 - Turn 5: Imhoe's the Insane VS Hal Qualleth Moriquendi

As soon as his enemy entered the arena, Imhoe'c could see that this was going to be a tough fight. The Druchii Highborn was covered in armour plates that looked as is if the had been made in the forges of Vaul himself. "Keep your thoughts together Imhoe'c. He may be heavily armored, but that also slows him down. You've got enough time to find the weak spots in his armour.", he said to himself.
Deciding not to give his enemy the chance to observe him, the Wood Elf kicked his horse in the flanks and charged the surprised Druchii.

"What in Khaine's name is he trying to do?", Hal Qualleth thought as he saw his foe spurring his horse forward. He was used to madmen who charged their enemies and tried to intimidate them, but this was something else.
The Asrai was crouched atop his horse as if...
To late he realised what Imhoe'c's intention was. Even as the Wood Elf jumped towards him, he could barely comprehend that the elf was prepared to take such a risk.
But it was to late. Imhoe'c flew through the air and thrust hiw blade forwards, piercing the Dark Elf's armour with ease.

Making a graceful landing, Imhoe'c quickly turned towards his foe who had been thrown of his mount. The body of the Dark Elf lay motionless on the ground. As Imhoe'c crept closer, he could see that the Druchii was still breathing. Approaching him carefully, he held his blade up high, wanting to bring it down on the weak spot in the armour surrounding Hal Qualleth's throat.

Suddenly, when the blade was mere inches away from piercing his throat, Hal Qualleth rolled aside, while the Asrai's blade hit the ground without doing any harm. Surprised by this move, he didn't see the Druchii's blade comming. It was only when he felt the blade pierce his skin, that he fully realised what had happened. Enraged by the cowardly move, he pulled the blade free from the ground and swung it up with all the force he had left inside him.

As if time itself had slowed down to make the Druchii suffer the shame of defeat, he saw the blade slowly ripping the chainmail protecting his groin apart. As if cleaving an elf was no more difficult than slicing an apple in half, the blade continued its upward motion only to stop when it had ripped the Druchii's heart to shreds.

Pulling his blade free, Imhoe'c couldn't help but smile. "Like a Pudding."

Round 1 - Turn 6: Khai'Zan VS Kai-Huan

Khai'Zan looked around him carefully. Any moment, his opponent could arrive, and he didn't want to be caught by surprise, one defeat was enough and he didn't think his master would accept another one. Yes, that previous defeat. He had made the mistake of underestimating his opponent and had paid a high price. The highest...

When Kai-huan finally entered the arena, he didn't pay any attention to the daemon awaiting him. Instead, he turned his back to him so that he could bade in the sunlight. He flexed his muscles and unsheathed his blade, which instantly filled him with a burning rage.

Khai'Zan, enraged by the insult of the Saurus Lord, spread his wings and charged Kai-Huan. "You'll die for this insult you miserable Lizard." But when he prepared to hit the Saurus, he suddenly disappeared. "What the..., where did he go?" He soon found out when the Enchanted blade pierced his skin. He quickly swung his blade in a backward motion, hoping to hit the Saurus' skull while the blade was still stuck in his skin.

Avoiding the blade, Kai-Huan pulled the blade free, ripping a large chunk out of the daemon's leg and quickly stabbed him in the chest before his foe could strike back. Then he stood back for a few moments, gaining as much time as possible, so that the daemon would get weaker. Showing an unnatural agility for one of his species, he ducked and parried every clumsy attempt of the daemon to hit him. And then, while he had just ducked under a wild blow from the Khornate Daemon, he saw an opening.
Not wasting a chance like this, he thrust his blade upwards, pushing it straight through the daemon's skull.

Round 1 - Turn 6: Asorial Dragonheart VS Fyrhaine

Asorial was worried about what had happened with Bhelliom, his Spite. She had returned just in time to save him in his previous battle, but she had changed. He found it very unsettling, as she looked as bad as he felt. The last couple of weeks had turned his flesh into a sickly pale image of it's previous beauty. But those were not things he had to worry about right now.
On the other side of the arena, he saw Fyrhaine, his foe, enter. He rememberd that he had been amazed by her beauty the first time he saw her, but that was before he knew who and what she was. The slender Dark Elf had appeared to be somthing else entirely. Something far more dangerous and foul.

Fyrhaine walked gracefully to the middle of the arena to look at the Asrai. "Is this the great Asorial? The Elf who killed anyone he encountered? You look like a sick little child in my eyes. I shall enjoy seeing you suffer." Although she didn't speak loudly, she could be heard all over the arena.
Having said this, she sprinted towards the Asrai, who, only just, had the time to parry the attack. Before he had the chance to recover, the daemonette continued her attack, breaking through his defence once, but missing the strength needed to cause some serious harm.

Realising he couldn't continue this way, or he would be killed, Asorial went into the attack himself. Pressing Fyrhaine backwards with a flurry of blow, he desperately tried to find an opening.
It wouldn't take long.
As the Slaaneshi minion ducked to dodge his blade, he smashed his knee into her face, forcing her to stand upright again. The time needed for her to recover was just enpugh for him to stab her with the blade.

It was as if time had stopped. The only thing he could hear was Fyrhaines cackling as her spirit got drawn into the sword. "This is the end for you, foul daemon."
"You think?" she replied.
Looking back at the sword, he could notice the dramatic difference with the previous times he had used the blade's power. This time, it was his own soul that was getting absorbed.
"Would it be so bad?" part of him said, "This is what I always wanted, to be released of the curse of the blade." But a stronger voice said to him that this what neither the right time, nor the right way.
In a last effort, he pulled the sword out of the daemonette's body.

The normal world rushed back in, and combined with the shock of almost losing his soul, it took him some time to recover. Fyrhaine had her own troubles. The pain made her shudder with pleasure. "This is going to be more fun than I thought."
For the second time, she threw herself at the Asrai in the hope of overwhelming him in a moment of weakness.
But Asorial had already recovered and dived to the side, only just avoiding being hit by the daemonic blades.
He had to end this. Now.

Jumping back up, the two foes circled around eachother in a storm of blades. A couple of times the Asrai would be off-balance as his blade passed right through the daemonette.
But after some minutes, he finally felt his blade hit flesh. Fyrhaine uttered a cry of pure pleasure as she fell to the ground with the blade stuck between her breasts.

Round 1 - Turn 6: Dihiran VS Hal Qualleth Moriquendi

Hal Qualleth entered the arena with a grim smile on his face. He had to win now, or all chance of winning this tournament would be lost. Seeing his opponent on the other side of the arena, he didn't think it would be a problem. The slender Asrai had suffered an unfortunate streak of losses, in which she had only managed to wound somebody once.
Spurring his Cold One onwards, he wanted to finish this with one mighty stroke of his enchanted blade.

Seeing what the Druchii tried to do, Dihiran quickly sidestepped to avoid a collision with her enemy's mount and at the same time, her sword flashed out of its scabbard and thrust it in the shield arm of the passing Dark Elf.

Howling in agony, the Druchii Highborn turned his mount to charge Dihiran again. But before he coulddo anything, swarms of tiny spites swarmed him, trying to wound him with their sharp claws. The only thing it did was annoy Hal Qualleth. These puny creatures could not penetrate his armour. Waving his blade back and forth through the cloud of critters, he hacked his way to Dihiran, who stood in their midst.
Before she could react, the Cold One grabbed her leg and threw her into the air. Not needing anymore, the Druchii threw his blade at her. Only to see it spike her at the wall.
He was right, this wasn't difficult.

Holla!

Been quite busy in the few weeks and forgot to check Asrai.org regularly. But it's great to see that you still resolve and write up battles, Wolf.

I just invented a new AoD character but it's time I continue the Fyrhaine (and with her Daemia) fluff.

Wow, I can't believe that the Spirit Sword wielder won again. Well... pain is pleasure.

Ah what the hell...

The vampire count wandered aimlessly through the labyrinthine catacombs. So far things hadn't been going as planned. He had come to this place with the intention of increasing his strength, draining the blood of those who cam against him. Instead he was actually losing the tournament, he a count of Sylvania losing to these lesser creatures! It hardly bore thinking about.
To make matters worse he was becoming increasingly aware of some force other than his own will in his mind. At first the fell powers of this place had been of little concern to him, his undead psyche was difficult for anything to penetrate. However, as of late the chaotic powers had been increasing their offensive and had already begun seeping in through the cracks of his mind. He could feel them, a faint buzzing sensation somewhere at the back of his thoughts. Although he was still in full control of himself he knew it couldn't last forever. Sooner or later they'd start influencing his actions and then what would happen?
He shuddered slightly. Blood. He needed blood, and soon. It had been too long since he'd last fed. True he didn't actually need it here, but if he allowed these energies to keep sustaining him he ran the risk of allowing something else to creep in with them.
He steeled himself and set off, now moving with a sense of purpose. It was time to feed
The time has come...

It looks like the worst of fates has come before me and caused my character, Dihiran, to lose repeaditively. I did not know I could lose time after time after time. But now I'm living proof of that.

I wish the best of luck to every one else, or to anyone who hasn't beaten me  Has everyone beaten me yet?
