You receive the bonus of +1 for the charges only once. See the section for multiple combats in the BRB. Your combined attack is rewarded in that way that:
- you can choose, which unit attacks first to deny stand and shoot
- you are likely to have flanking charges (often it is not the most clever option to charge the front of your enemy with two of your units, as it may keep your units in a single combat for a long time)
- if so, you might deny rank bonus
- you have usually more attacks to run that unit down
- if the first attacker causes terror, you can spare the charge of the second unit in case of a failed test (or perhaps you charge with it as well to make the enemy flee further)
- if the first attacker causes fear and the defenders fails the test, again you can spare the second charge (you are sure to win OR you decide to block that unit for a turn instead of eliminating it in favour of a more valuable target)
- and so on it is all about options
I hate the dictionary of my phone.
